Adriana Iliescu became the world’s oldest mother at the age of 66. For obvious reasons, her birth story made headlines, and Adriana’s birth earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Adriana spoke out about parenting and discussed her experiences in 2010 after receiving harsh criticism after becoming a mother. People believed she was greedy and overburdened.

“The mirror is unkind to women, but when it comes to energy, I feel like a young woman.” I feel like I’m 27, and when I’m sleepy, I feel like I’m 37. “I am healthier than women half my age,” she told the Daily Mail.

“People think it’s funny to call me granny, but I didn’t have Eliza to make me look younger.” “I never feel my age.”

Adriana, aged 71, also disclosed ambitions to have another child during her chat with the British newspaper.

“Medically, it’s possible,” she explained. “I understand there are trials underway in England with a 70-year-old woman, so it could be done.” I’m good and healthy, and I believe it’s conceivable for me to have another kid in the future, but I’m not in a hurry right now.”

Adriana and Eliza, like most daughters and moms, have built a deep friendship throughout the years. Eliza is a lively, amusing, and cheerful child.

Despite the fact that many people question Adriana’s age, the old mother insists she is a decent mom who does everything for Eliza.

“I’m not a smoker or a drinker.” Eliza will be 20 by the time I die if I live as long as my parents did. “I believe I still have much to offer her,” Adriana adds.

Adriana did not choose to become a mother at such a late age. Adriana Iliescu was forced to terminate her kid while she was young and newlywed for medical reasons. Her spouse abandoned her when she was 24.

Adriana then concentrated on other aspects of her life, including her teaching career at a university in Romania.

“I couldn’t even think about a child while I was working,” she explained, adding:

“However, after finishing my doctorate at the age of 37, I was ready to have a child.” But there was no such thing as IVF back then.”

When in-vitro fertilization became accessible in Romania, Adriana was 57 years old. Adriana had therapy, but her first pregnancy failed in 2000.

People who learned of her desire to be a mother abandoned her. They assumed Adriana was doing something wrong, but she never gave up hope, and her determination to become a mother was unwavering.

She sought therapy from Dr. Bogdan Marinescu in Bucharest, which resulted in the birth of Eliza. Adriana did get pregnant with triplets, but two of the kids died in the womb, leaving Eliza as the lone survivor. She was born preterm, so she spent a lot of time in the NICU.

But she grew up to be a robust young girl, and Adriana, who was profoundly religious, wanted to baptize her daughter. Several religious organizations objected to Adriana becoming a mother at such an advanced age. The nuns gave Adriana strange glances when Eliza was christened, and one even dubbed her “the product of dark force.”

Adriana believes Eliza is a divine gift from God.
